Introduction

MSOSH is the oldest OSH NGO in Malaysia, was established back in 1971. In 1970s, Malaysia initiate the National Industrialization Policy that expedite the growth and development of manufacturing industry in Malaysia.
On 19 August 1970, a meeting was held to developed the society’s constitution and Dr Chan Jee Swee was appointed as the Protem Chairman of Malaysian Society for Industrial Safety (MSIS). The Malaysian Society for Industrial Safety was registered on the 27th April 1971.
The Malaysian Society for Industrial Safety was registered on the 27th April 1971.
In 1989, MSIS members discussed a potential draft of an Occupational Safety and Health Act that will be enforced in the near future. This wind of change has moved MSIS to make a significant decision and its direction in order to maintain its relevancy to the industry needs.
Hence MSIS decided to change its name to Malaysian Society on Occupational Safety and Health (MSOSH). .
In 1994, the Government gazette the Occupational Safety and Health Act.

Services and Activities

Conduct OSH courses, seminars, workshops,and publish quarterly newsletters;
Assisting members seeking clarification on prevailing OSH and other related legislations;
Maintain close contact with DOSH, SOCSO, NIOSH, BOMBA and MTUC;
Provide informatory services such as Safety and Health activities to other members and specialised subjects on OSH in the country;
Interact with representatives of corporate members;
Organizing MSOSH OSH Awards competition annually to recognize OSH performance and improvements of members and others.
